In the winter of 2012-’13, a small town in Central California (Lemoore) installed its very own disc golf course located at Heritage Park. Upon installation, those of us in Lemoore who avidly played the sport began calling ourselves the “Avid Throwers Crew”, later becoming “Acehigh Throwers Crew” due to the graphics company a thrower used for his motoX career and used to make our first “bag-tags” with. Once ATC was going and the Lemoore disc golf community began to grow, a little bit of my creativity and inspiration from the crew, arose my first novelty sized disc golf basket that we passed around as consolation to holding “tag #1”.
The little basket was admired as I became inspired. I put a little more designing and measurement into two more baskets and realized, “I need to find a way to mass produce these little baskets.” I then did massive research into the “’miniature/tiny/novelty/key chain/toy’ disc golf basket market” before looking into it as a possible small business venture. Stumbled across a couple companies that do offer similar sized and styled baskets yet most of which being very expensive due to the intricate pieces of art that they were. So of course at this point I started crunching numbers, browsing for materials and began to build outsided interest.
October 2013, with inspiration from the crew and my ingenuity, Acehigh Throwers Company was born. Using moms garage (where all good things start), I was building and selling a basket per day, on average, I started legitimizing and on came the paperwork. Paperwork needs writing utensils. So for fun I drilled some holes in the top of a basket one day, posted some pictures to my page, and was asked to purchase one within just hours! So out comes ATCo’s second product, which after even more extensive research happens to be the first of its kind! I have been advertising it as the *World’s First* 1:8 Scale Disc Golf Basket Pen/Pencil Holder since the winter of ’13-’14 and have yet to see any like it whether before or after my inventing of it.
